2. Our New "Thaler or Equal" Method for Assessing "Competitive Products"
When specifications read "Thaler or Equal", it is the responsibility of specifiers and building owners to determine what it means to be "or Equal". A simple one page listing of "Value Added" features with check boxes appears at the beginning of each Thaler product section to help the reader very quickly EVALUATE whether or not another manufacturer's product is equal to Thaler. It can be seen from this information that "When specifying Thaler, you're specifying more than a product, you're specifying Quality and Durability.
3. Our New Technical Manual
A Thaler Millennium project involves producing a complete technical reference file for the building professions and roofing trades. Each section of our new manual contains product data presented in a preferred format, section details, and FORMAL SPECIFICATIONS.
Specifications, in the new Thaler technical manual, can be employed in three different ways:
- A SHORT FORM SPECIFICATION appears on every product data sheet.
- A LONG FORM SPECIFICATION appears at the end of each product section. These "specs" are written up as a separate Section of Work and are suitable for direct transfer to a project specification with minimum editing.
- MATERIAL AND INSTALLATION CLAUSES can be easily extracted from a Thaler Specification Section for insertion into a Roofing Section of the Specification if desired.
A LITTLE INFORMATION ABOUT THALER FLASHINGS
Thaler STACK JACK, Exhaust Vent and Mechanical & Electrical Flashing products, employing EPDM seals with "memory" represent the new generation of flashings that meet the requirements of air leakage control better than any other flashing on the market today. The Thaler EPDM TRIPLE PRESSURE GROMMET SEAL located at the uppermost portion of the STACK JACK Flashings are CSA Approved and conform to CSA B272-93 (Prefabricated Self-Sealing Roof Vent Flashings). This Standard specifies the requirements for roof vent flashings used to affect a permanent weather seal between the flashing and the vent pipe without the use of additional sealing materials (caulking) around the vent pipe - and therefore requires NO MAINTENANCE.
Thaler products employing the TRIPLE PRESSURE GROMMET SEAL are being marketed under the new name NEW-STANDARD and represent a benchmark in vent pipe flashing design.
The Thaler EPDM BASE SEAL, adhered to the deck flange, provides a 100% airtight seal via an AIR BARRIER DESIGN and ELIMINATES CONDENSATION in the flashing /vent pipe cavity space even without urethane insulation.
